About CraftWorks at the Barn
A furniture showroom, an antiques mall, an artisan market and a food market, all under one roof on Lindsay Road in Selwyn.
Our story
From a downtown corner to a barn on Lindsay Road
CraftWorks opened in 1997 on the corner of George and Sherbrooke streets in downtown Peterborough, started by Darrell and Deb Junkin. For years a giant red rocking chair out front marked the corner, and more than 300 local crafters and artisans sold their work inside.
In 2009 we moved east of Fowlers Corners to the barn on Lindsay Road. The building already had a life of its own — dances, bingo nights and antique markets had all been held there — and an antiques mall was already running in it. It gave us room to carry on what we had been doing downtown, at a scale a storefront never allowed.
The rocking chair came with us and stood out front for years before it was finally retired — a big red Muskoka chair took its place. We are still locally owned, still family run, and open seven days a week, 363 days a year.
